My PC Backup Review

Absolutely Unbiased Editor Rating: 8 out of 10

This review of My PCBackup was concentrated on service sign-up, use of various features and the actual backing up of files. The convenience of button inclusions, along with the similarities between program function buttons and web interface were also discussed.

The convenience of particular features were discussed, as well as potential applications of those features. Screen shots of different areas in the program and various processes allow the user to experience the program and assess ease of use prior to installing the program.

The Signup Process - What You Need To Know

Signup is very easy to access, with the signup box located to the right on the main page of the site.  Once sign up has been completed, the installation dialog box pops up instantly:

Program installation is fast and easy, with visual instructions being offered on the download page.

Customer Support Experience

MyPC backup is very thorough with their customer support, offering answered questions in several categories on their "Help" page:

Customer support seems to be most comprehensive from this page.

My PCBackup offers email confirmation to ensure the customer is notified when backups are complete:

As well, the customer is notified by email if there were any files that were missed. The subject of the email, "Your account has been flagged", provides a clever, if somewhat misleading method of ensuring the customer reads the email.

Pros

My PCBackup's  installation process is very quick and easy to do. The ability to sync multiple computers is a definite plus, as is the ability to access files from any location. Backups are quick to complete, and there is a lot of information located in the Help Center. The progress bar offers convenient visual confirmation of the size of both uploaded files and pending uploads. File structure is maintained when backing up files.

Cons

Although the Sync Folder offers a fast, easy way to upload files to the cloud, the fact that there is more than one way to access it - via the web or the Sync Folder on your computer - may be confusing to some.

The mobile portion of the program can be downloaded by either choosing to have your device emailed or texted in addition to visiting the app store associated with the particular device. The text and email options seem unnecessary considering the ease with which most users can simply access their device's app store.

My PC Backup appears to be most suited to individuals wanting to back up their home PCs. It may also provide a viable option for those small offices having only a few computers. Large corporations may not offer the functionality needed to back up large file amounts.  For more information visit HostingAndBackup.com, your resource for web hosting and online computer backup services.
